Elder Abuse
Several cases of elder abuse in the Region.
Police want to warn of scammers who often target elderly people. Common methods include them wanting the elderly to transfer money to unknown persons/scammers and/or them calling and claiming to want to help with taking care of valuable items to keep them safe. They often state that a person will come to the person's home to collect the valuable items.
In some cases, the scammers pose as police officers and sometimes as security personnel at large banks or insurance companies. This is, of course, not true, neither police nor banks/insurance companies work in this way.
Do not let unknown people into your home, police always have a police ID with them and can always identify themselves with the help of this. The same applies to home care and other functions that visit elderly people in their homes.
