Three cases of attempted fraud against 90-year-olds were reported on Tuesday evening in Eskilstuna.

Three people in their 90s have received calls from a man who claims to be a police officer during the evening. He has called from a hidden number.

To one of the people, the man said that there had been a break-in at a 90-year-old person in the vicinity and that he was going to come home to her and "install something" to protect her. To another of the affected individuals, the man asked what the person had valuable items at home. To the third, he said that the police were in the area because there had been elderly break-ins in the area and that they would pass by the person's home.

None of the 90-year-olds are said to have lost anything. It is currently unclear if it is the same man who has called.

Hang up the phone!
We urge you who receive calls from people you do not know who claim to be police officers and want to come home to you to hang up the phone. Report to the police even if you have not lost anything. Take help from relatives or friends. You are not alone in being affected by people with malicious intent. The police take these crimes seriously and all information is valuable in order to be able to catch those who want to deceive the elderly out of money and valuable items.
