Attempts have been located in Skövde and Mariestad but other locations may be relevant. The modus operandi has been that the scammers call elderly people and claim to be from the police or insurance companies. They want the victims to gather jewelry and gold so they can come and pick it up or that they should leave information about accounts and codes.

Put the phone down immediately if you receive such a call. Do not leave any codes or jewelry or gold. Contact the police on 112 if you feel the slightest concern or if you know you have been a victim of a crime.

Are you a relative of an elderly person who can be exposed? Contact them and ask them not to let anyone into their home and not to leave any information on the phone. If your relative has been contacted by an unknown person, call the police immediately on 112.
