A woman in Bergshamra seeks help from a neighbor after a man in his 40s broke into her home without permission. The man had wanted to be let in, but when he was refused, he broke a window to get in and the woman fled the scene.

When the police arrive at the scene, the man is found in the woman's home, where he has lain down in a bed. During an interrogation with the woman, information about a suspected assault that occurred a few days earlier comes to light. The man is therefore arrested for gross breach of peace and assault, and is later held in custody by the prosecutor.

The man and the woman are acquainted with each other from earlier, but they do not have a close relationship.
