January 18, 03.57, Explosion, Västerås

The police receive a report of an explosion in a residential area in Västerås. Several police patrols and rescue services are called to the address where it can be confirmed that a smaller explosion, without extensive damage, has occurred in connection with a multi-family house.

National bomb protection was called in and the area was cordoned off.

In connection with the explosion, a fire also broke out in a building on the site. The rescue service was able to quickly extinguish it and then left the site.

The site is still cordoned off on Sunday morning for technical examination.   

There are currently no reports of anyone being injured in connection with the incident.
