The police have seen several cases of fraud against the elderly in recent days.

Police in the Bergslagen region have seen several cases of fraud targeting the elderly over the past few days, with the fraudsters using various methods.

In one instance, a person called and claimed to be in distress and needed help to send money immediately. The person also claimed that they would come to the elderly person's home and pay back later.

Someone has called and claimed to be from the healthcare system and tried to persuade the elderly person to identify themselves via bank ID in order to access their bank account.

If you have elderly relatives, talk to them about how to protect themselves against fraud.

Never use e-legitimation or give away codes from your bank card to anyone else. Fraudsters often ask for repeated identification.

Hang up if you're unsure who's calling. Instead, call back on a number you've looked up yourself.
