New Year's Eve and the night in the Stockholm police region was roughly on the same level as the New Year's holiday last year.
Stockholm Police handled a few more cases compared to the previous year. The number of cases in 2025 was 1,238, while 1,045 cases were recorded in 2024.
Overall, 31 intoxicated people were taken into custody in accordance with the law on the taking into custody of intoxicated persons during the period from 6:00 PM on New Year's Eve to 6:00 AM on New Year's Day.
During the same period, 70 people suspected of crimes were detained, compared to 84 people in 2024. The numbers of detained people are exclusive of those taken into custody in accordance with the law on the taking into custody of intoxicated persons.
The number of assault cases was 58. The corresponding figure for last year's New Year's holiday was 74.
