Somtal came in about a man being found injured on a footpath in Norrmyran. Police and ambulance responded to the scene and the man was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation into murder was launched and an area was cordoned off for technical examination, further door-to-door questioning was carried out in the surrounding area. There is no one detained in the matter.

Police are seeking information and observations from witnesses who may have seen what happened at the scene. Anyone who saw something before, during, or after the event is urged to contact the police on 114 14, or 112 if the situation is urgent.

Next of kin have been informed of the death.
