Two elderly women who live in different locations in central Salem/Rönninge are targeted by a scam in the late afternoon. 
Both women have received SMS from a billing company about unpaid invoices. After the women have contacted the number listed in the SMS, they have spoken to scammers who then came to the women's homes by claiming they would help the women in different ways. 
In one case, the scammer has thus gained possession of valuable items in the woman's home and completed the crime.
The value of the stolen goods is unclear. 
In the other case, the scammer failed to take any valuable items and the crime therefore stops at an attempt to scam.

**The police emphasize the importance of never calling back on unexpected SMS numbers.
**This applies even if the message appears to come from a reputable company or authority. Instead, look up the phone number of the company or authority you want to contact (for example, through their website). 

No serious companies or authorities make home visits to collect valuable items or bank cards.
