Report theft of catalytic converter.
Police in Bergslagen, primarily in Police District Värmland and Police District Örebro County, see that some catalytic converters are being stolen from parked cars.
This type of crime is very difficult to investigate as there are rarely any witnesses and it can be hard to find evidence after a crime of this kind.
However, in order to make it easier for the Police to continue with an investigation of this kind, there are a few things that we would like to be helped with.
Most of those affected by this make a E-report through Police.se and we see that these reports often come in late after the incident, that there is a lack of relevant information in the reports, and that it can be difficult to get in touch with the person affected.
We therefore want you to make a report via 11414 as far as possible.
We also want you to avoid moving the car if possible, except that you may back your car up against a snowbank or a wall of some kind.
This in order to make it easier to make a decision if a crime scene investigation should be carried out, for example.
Although it may be difficult to secure evidence from a disconnected exhaust pipe, there may be other evidence. The perpetrator may have injured themselves so that there is blood, they may have thrown a cigarette butt or a snus pellet or something similar.
If you suspect a crime in progress, you should call 112 and ask to speak with the Police.
