The 2nd of December, eight residents of Bromma have reported that they have been exposed to attempts at fraud. Scammers often work on a neighborhood basis and call to deceive - today or tomorrow, another neighborhood may be affected. Talk to your friends and relatives about the risk of being deceived. The frauds and attempts in Bromma yesterday occurred via SMS or email. All eight have received information that their new payment cards were ready and if they had any questions, they should call a specific phone number. When they called the number specified, they were met with various fabricated stories, such as purchases of thousands of kronor having been made on the caller's card or stories about ongoing break-ins. During several of the calls, the scammers who called wanted the person called to photograph jewelry or gold and send the pictures - for safety's sake - to the caller. In a number of cases, the victims discovered the fraud attempt and alerted a relative, questioned the caller or hung up. All the victims are people over 70 years old. You can lose money by being deceived into logging into your bank or revealing codes or card information. Never give out cards, codes, or account information to unknown parties and do not log into your bank at someone else's request.
