
Over ten thousand motorists were checked by the police during last week's sobriety checks in the Bergslagen region.
Of these, only twelve were affected by alcohol.
- It is a very encouraging figure, even if it would of course be best if the number of drunk drivers were zero, says David Askeröd at the Traffic Police in Region Bergslagen.
- We see a trend with fewer and fewer drunk drivers in traffic when it comes to alcohol influence.
In Värmland a total of 6725 drivers were checked, of which four drivers blew positive and are therefore suspected of drunk driving. The checks were carried out throughout the day and were conducted in both urban areas and rural areas.
During sobriety checks, other types of crime are also discovered, in Värmland four narcotics offenses were discovered and fourteen drivers gave rise to so-called tip-offs. Eight drivers are suspected of preliminary drunk driving under the influence of drugs.
In Dalarna 2494 drivers were checked, of which five were reported for drunk driving due to alcohol and seven for drunk driving under the influence of drugs. Seven narcotics offenses and one firearms offense were discovered.
In Örebro County 1146 drivers were checked, and three drivers were reported for alcohol influence. In the county, sixteen drivers were also found to be suspected of drunk driving under the influence of drugs. One person was apprehended in accordance with the Aliens Act, and four people are suspected of narcotics offenses. A wanted person was found and apprehended.
