August 9, 13.01, Update, Umeå

Last night, Saturday August 8, information was received about an assault in central Umeå. Unknown persons were suspected of having assaulted a man.

Today, two persons in their 20s have been detained. They are reasonably suspected of aggravated assault and are apprehended after a decision by the prosecutor.

The police have, among other things, examined recorded content from the police's cameras, held a number of witness interrogations, conducted a crime scene investigation, obtained information through, among other things, door-to-door questioning, and held interrogations with the victim and suspects.

The work to investigate the incident continues. The case is now led by a prosecutor.
