In central Uppsala, a man tries to steal a woman's bag. The woman, who is in her 30s, tries to stop the man's theft attempt and is then physically attacked by the man, whereupon her phone breaks. The man then leaves the scene.

A few minutes later, a police patrol at the central station checks a man who matches the description of the suspect that the police have. The man puts up resistance and tears himself free but is caught after a short sprint.

The initial crime classification is assault and vandalism.
