The police in Region West have been alerted to 20 incidents of domestic violence over the past 48 hours. In at least four cases, the suspected crimes were committed in the presence of children, resulting in additional reports of child abuse. Other classifications include assault and harassment. The crimes are suspected to have been committed in a romantic relationship or other close relationship.

On five occasions, a person has been arrested in connection with the patrol's visit to the address:

Assault, Partille
A man is arrested in a residence during the night after the police receive information that he allegedly assaulted his wife. The patrol at the address determines that it is not the first time, and a decision is made to arrest him.

Assault, Gothenburg
A man is arrested in a residence in Gothenburg after information that he allegedly hit his parent.

Assault, Falköping
A woman is arrested at an address in Falköping Municipality. She is suspected of having strangled her parent.

Threats or aggravated threats, Lilla Edet
A man is suspected of having threatened, hit, and followed a woman he was previously in a relationship with. The man leaves the address and is arrested in connection with the suspected crime scene.

Disturbing photography/threats, Alingsås
The police are alerted to an address in Alingsås due to a man behaving threateningly. The man is also suspected of having filmed his wife in a vulnerable situation.

We work proactively to reduce and complicate violent crimes in close relationships. The focus is on identifying, highlighting, investigating, and prosecuting perpetrators, which increases the number of arrests. In Region West, 15 people are currently being held in custody suspected of crimes in close relationships.
