During Friday, a large number of calls/notifications were received by the police's contact center regarding received SMS that appear to be from the police. In the messages, the recipient is urged to pay traffic fines to the Police Authority via a linked link. The purpose is for the recipient to click on the link to complete a payment. These SMS are false.

The underreporting of individuals who have received these false police SMS is feared to be high. In order to prevent the attempted scams from resulting in completed crimes, we therefore continue to warn about these SMS with the instruction not to click on the link.
