Investigation discontinued in case of aggravated unlawful threats in Borlänge.
The boy who has been detained for grossly illegal threats in Borlänge has been released on bail and the ongoing investigation has been closed. There is no longer reason to assume that a crime that falls under general prosecution has been committed.
- After the investigation has been completed and I have taken part in the collected material, it can be concluded that there is no support for the fact that the boy has uttered or written anything that constitutes an illegal threat. Instead, it is assessed that the information was based on misinterpretations and incorrect rumors. The boy is therefore innocent, says Kammaråklagare Joel Henning.
Police always assess incoming threats against school environments and may carry out operational measures. Measures are usually of a crime-preventing and security-enhancing nature, but can also aim to collect more information to be able to evaluate the incoming threat and its credibility.
Rumor-spreading is common in events like this, and in the first instance, one should contact the police and provide the information one has. It is then up to the police to process and analyze the information that has come in during the course of the investigation.
The police continuously receive tips and information about threats against schools. The majority are assessed as untrustworthy and without substance.
