Elk in a densely populated area.
Several people contacted the police regarding a moose that had taken itself into central Uppsala and was stressed. The moose was first seen at Ångströmslaboratoriet but later somehow managed to get into a fenced area in Kungsängen.
The police initially decided to wait before dispatching a team to avoid stressing the moose, hoping it could find its way out on its own.
By 12:00, the moose was still inside the fenced area, acting stressed and seemed unable to get out on its own. A police patrol was then dispatched to the scene.
The police had been in contact with the local gamekeeper throughout the morning, continuously assessing the situation. After a decision by the police, the gamekeeper humanely put down the moose at 13:40, as it was deemed to pose a threat to the public if it were to escape from the fenced area in its stressed state.
