The police receive a number of calls from the public regarding a loud bang that is said to have been heard in the central parts of Västerås.

The police are ordered to the scene and outside a door belonging to a building for both residences and businesses, traces of an explosion are found.

What has exploded is still unclear. No person has been injured in connection with the incident.

An investigation into gross destruction of property and a breach of the law on hazardous and explosive goods is initiated and the site has been cordoned off pending a technical examination.

During the night and morning, the police have worked on investigative measures, including information gathering. A number of people have also been checked. No suspect has yet been arrested.
