Moped car taken in custody
During the afternoon, a moped was observed to be driving at allowed speed on national road 32 outside Tranås. The vehicle was stopped and the driver has admitted that it was modified.
The moped was taken into custody and the driver - a man in his 70s - will be suspected of traffic offense.
Driving too fast with a modified car or A-tractor is a crime.
If you have a car driving license, also known as a B-license, you commit a speeding offense if you drive a moped or equivalent at too high a speed.
If you instead have an AM-license, you commit the offense of unauthorized driving because the vehicle is not adapted to be driven faster than 30 kilometers per hour.
The consequences of this can among other things be that it may take longer to get a B-license in the long run, as you can get so-called time-out.
If the driver is young, speeding with an A-tractor or modified car can also lead to the guardian being guilty of the offense "allowing unauthorized driving", which is a negligence crime.
