Here comes some information about what applies:

What applies for snow tires?
Snow tires may be used from 1 October to 15 April. 

When must one have winter tires (snow tires/snow-free tires)?
From 1 December to 31 March must passenger cars, light trucks, light buses, and A-tractors, as well as trailers to these, have winter tires or equivalent equipment when winter road conditions prevail.

Winter tires can be studded or snow-free. Snow-free winter tires must be marked with the symbol "alpine top/snöflinga" (a mountain with three peaks and snowflake).

What does winter road conditions mean?
Winter road conditions prevail when there is snow, ice, snowdrift, or frost on any part of the road. The police decide if winter road conditions prevail at the location where you are.

What tread depth applies?
The minimum tread depth is 3 mm during the period 1 December - 31 March when winter road conditions prevail. For passenger cars class II with a total weight over 3,500 kg, the requirement is however at least 5 mm.
