Here is a summary of the night's events.
The police regional command center handled around 90 incidents concerning Södermanland County between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Six wildlife collisions occurred (wild boar, deer, roe deer), in most cases with no personal injuries. A minor traffic accident did occur in Malmköping at 11:20 p.m., after the driver swerved to avoid a wild boar. The driver felt pain in the abdomen and was taken from the scene by ambulance. No serious violent crimes or major incidents have come to the attention of the police.
4:28 a.m. Driving under the influence – Nyköping
Several calls came in about a car driving erratically and at highly varying speeds between Södertälje and Nyköping. Just before Nyköping, the journey ended in a single-vehicle accident that partially blocked the road but caused no serious injuries. The driver, a man in his mid-20s, was taken by the police for testing. The police suspect that he was driving under the influence of nitrous oxide, and the incident is now being investigated as aggravated drunk driving or, alternatively, gross negligence in traffic. His driving licence has been seized.
In addition to this, the police carried out a number of routine checks, either on their own initiative or following calls from the public.
