An 80-year-old woman in Mölndal alerts the police about a suspected scam. The crime is alleged to have occurred on Thursday and started with a text message.
The SMS is supposed to have been about a claimed booking of municipal services that the plaintiff does not recognize. When she calls the specified phone number, a scam begins where the woman is deceived into thinking that her valuable items would be in urgent need of "safe" storage. In this misconception, items of unknown value are handed over to a foreign person who comes to the address.
The police continue to urge everyone who receives this type of SMS, with claimed bookings that they do not recognize, to dare to be unpleasant - not to respond and instead report the matter to the police. Since scammers often target older people, relatives of these individuals are urged to talk to them about the issue.
