
Result of the police's work in connection with Rauta's Premiere.
Over the weekend, the police were present on snowmobiles in connection with the fishing premiere in Lake Rautasjaure, Kiruna municipality. This was for fisheries supervision, control of sobriety on snowmobiles and snowmobile driving in prohibited areas.
On Friday, a woman in her 50s was caught for unauthorized fishing before the premiere. The matter regarding unauthorized fishing was handled according to the working method "faster prosecution" and the woman signed a pre-agreement of a fine of 20,000 kronor.
A man in his 30s was also reported for preparation for unauthorized fishing. His fishing rod was taken into custody. The police also confiscated a fishing rod with an unknown owner.
On Saturday, four snowmobile drivers were reported for offenses against the terrain driving law as they were supposed to have driven snowmobiles in the temporary prohibited area within Gabna sameby.
On the evening, a snowmobile driver in his upper teenage years was stopped and checked as he blew positively in the police's screening instrument. The man was taken to Kiruna police station for further sampling. He is reported for driving under the influence.
Approximately 20 snowmobile drivers were also asked to blow in the police's screening instrument and they were sober.
- We want to give a thumbs up for the high helmet usage among snowmobile drivers this year. We have not reported anyone for not using a helmet, which is very good, says Daniel Almgren, police assistant.
