After several falls of scams in a short time, the Police want to stress again the importance of never handing over bank cards/ codes to unknown individuals.
The incidents have occurred in the Borås and Gothenburg area over the past few days and have had similar methods: The victim is called and claims to have been exposed to a scam. An attempt is made to stop the scam by claiming that – during the ongoing conversation – someone is sent to collect the victim's credit card/code.
In this way, a woman in Gothenburg is suspected of having lost over 100,000 kronor to scammers on Monday evening.
By promising that it is urgent and keeping the phone call going, the perpetrators are suspected of wanting to reduce the chances for the victim to verify the truth in the claims and raise an alarm.
The police want to remind the public again to NOT hand over such items to unknown individuals and to DARE TO BE SKEPTICAL if they are called by someone who makes similar claims – and simply hang up.
