During the morning, the police were contacted regarding an attempted scam. At least one elderly person in the area is believed to have been targeted.

The scam is of the type "sms-barn". The victims have received SMS where someone poses as their child. The "child"/i.e. the scammer states in the SMS that they have a new phone number since their previous mobile phone has broken. In connection with this, they claim to need financial help, for example help to pay an unpaid invoice.

Be suspicious if you receive this type of SMS. Never follow up on requests to send money if you are not completely sure that the person is who they claim to be.
