
Theft wave against elderly homes in Jönköping
Several elderly people have been exposed to theft or attempted theft at elderly care homes in Jönköpings län.
At 13.30, the police were alerted to the town of Lekeryd where two unknown persons had been inside the residents' apartments. In at least one case, the perpetrators seized a wallet with cash. The affected person is a woman in her 90s.
At 14.00, the police were alerted to a similar case in Anneberg, Nässjö. Here, staff at an elderly care home confronted two unauthorized persons inside the care home. The persons are said to have entered apartments on the care home. The persons then left the scene. A woman in her 80s was robbed of cash.
The police are working to track down the suspected perpetrators. At present, there are no suspects, but we want to inform the public about this and appeal to vigilance.
We want to emphasize the importance of having outer doors locked, even when you are at home. Do not let in any unknown or uninvited individuals at home. This applies to both private individuals and those who claim to be officials.
