Representatives from the United States, Ukraine and Russia are to meet to discuss a possible peace agreement, and the meeting will begin as early as Friday. Russia must be prepared to compromise, says Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Ukrainian president said during an on-stage conversation in Davos that the three countries will meet in the United Arab Emirates on Friday and Saturday.

US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump adviser Jared Kushner will travel to Moscow on Thursday for meetings with Russian representatives. According to Zelenskyy, they will go directly from there to meet with Ukrainian delegates ahead of the meeting in the United Arab Emirates.

They (Witkoff and Kushner) were waiting for my meeting with Donald Trump and are leaving now, Zelenskyy said on Thursday afternoon.

According to Zelenskyy, the planned meeting is the first of its kind and he said he hopes Russia will be open to compromise. In his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelenskyy said that documents that will bring the war closer to an end are "almost, almost ready" and that Ukraine is working with full force to reach an agreement.

Everyone must be ready, not just Ukraine. It is better than having no hope for dialogue at all.

The Ukrainian president met with US President Trump earlier on Thursday, a meeting both leaders described as "good".

On Telegram, Zelenskyy also described the meeting as "productive and meaningful."

"We talked about air defense for Ukraine - the previous meeting with President Trump helped protect the airspace. And I hope that this time we will strengthen it as well," he said, thanking Trump.

Neither the US nor Russia has confirmed the meeting in the United Arab Emirates.
