Andrij Jermak, Zelenskyj's advisor, in turn praises the President of the USA.

”Peace through strength – we support this type of model. Strong decisions by the President of the USA Donald Trump, to strengthen Ukraine through aid and best-ranked American weapons. Russia is weakened due to sanctions, as well as due to defeats on the front”, writes Jermak on the messaging service Telegram.

Expresses frustration

But there is also doubt about the promised measures – large arms deliveries to Ukraine and tariff threats against Russia – being sufficient to convince the Kremlin to end the war.

”Trump gave Putin another 50 days to invade Ukraine”, writes independent member of parliament Mariana Bezuhla on social media.

Ukrainians also express frustration that it took Trump six months to change his attitude towards Russia's President Putin, reports The Guardian.

Several Russian bloggers and politicians dismiss the USA's ultimatum by saying that Trump is known for changing his mind.

”Much can change in 50 days”, writes Konstantin Kosachev, Russian member of parliament, on Telegram.

Gives praise

The Nordic countries are among those expected to buy in weapons for Ukraine. The strengthened support ”sends a clear signal to the Kremlin that we stand united”, says a statement from Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide according to NTB.

President Trump also receives praise, albeit lukewarm, from the Democrats at home, writes BBC. He ”has finally taken his senses”, comments Jeanne Shaheen in the Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee.
