Have you wondered why your Instagram videos look like mashed potatoes compared to the flashy film clips of celebrities? Quality-wise, it's not your fault. According to Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, the best quality is simply reserved for the most popular content. During a Q&A session recently, Mosseri explained that posts that initially get good spread but then decline get worse video quality.
According to Mosseri, it's not about a big quality difference, but more popular posts – often from already well-known accounts and people – are simply a little better, purely in terms of video and image technology.
Instagram, and its owner Meta, mean that it's ultimately impossible for all uploaded content to be in the best quality. However, what gets increased spread becomes "better" afterwards, according to the platform.
