+ The Sky League leader is playing for a new contract

With three goals, striker Jonathan David has led Canada to the nation's first World Cup finals. According to Italian media reports, Juventus want to sell him, and the price tag is said to be around 330 million kronor. A few more goals in the tournament could be the difference between remaining at Europe's big clubs and taking a step down the club hierarchy.

+ Can the Swedes help write history?

Bosnia and Herzegovina have a great chance to advance to the finals of a major championship for the first time. All it takes is a victory against Qatar. The Bosnian squad includes three Swedes: Benjamin Tahirovic from Spånga, Armin Gigovic from Lund and Dennis Hadzikadunic from Malmö. So far, Tahirovic and Gigovic have received playing time, while Hadzikadunic is still waiting for his World Cup debut.

+ Rape trial casts shadow

Reigning bronze medallists Morocco still have a chance to win the group. But despite their success, most of the headlines are about the rape allegations against team captain Achraf Hakimi. A woman in Paris has accused the 27-year-old of raping her in 2023, and during the World Cup news came that the case will go to trial. “I've been waiting for this trial and now I'm actually looking forward to it. Finally, I'll be able to speak,” Hakimi wrote on Instagram.

+ Neymar could make his debut

Neymar's presence or absence has been one of the big talking points of the World Cup. There has even been speculation that coach Carlo Ancelotti was pressured by the Brazilian federation to leave the injured 34-year-old out of the squad for commercial reasons. But on Monday, Neymar had his first full training session since the World Cup began and, with Raphinha on the injury list, there is a gap to fill in Brazil's attack.

+ Hope lives on for South Africa - despite everything

South Africa were outplayed in their opening match against Mexico, losing 0–2 and receiving two red cards. But thanks to a late equaliser in the must-win match against the Czech Republic, South Africa still have a good chance of reaching the last 16. If they beat South Korea, they will move up to four points and will likely advance from the group.

+ The goalkeeper legend is historical

After two victories, 2–0 against South Africa and 1–0 against South Korea, Mexico is already the clear group winner. Then the team will be rotated considerably in the final round. National coach Javier Aguirre has already announced that Guillermo Ochoa will guard the goal. With that, the 40-year-old becomes part of the exclusive club of players who have played in six World Cups, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
