This means that one can miss out on 100,000 kronor that would have gone towards visits in connection with an exhibition about American indigenous peoples, writes Aftonbladet.
The exhibition "Native American Fashion" contains objects and clothing created by 40 designers from indigenous peoples in the USA and Canada. Through an exchange program from the American embassy, the museum has received 500,000 kronor for these designers to be able to travel to Sweden.
400,000 has already been paid out, but prior to the payment of the remaining funds, the American government wanted the museum to sign an addendum to the agreement stating that diversity and equality would not be included in the program.
Anna Lundström, assistant department head at the Museum of World Culture, tells Aftonbladet that the museum's lawyers have gone through the agreement and that it goes against the museum's own governing document to sign it.
It's interesting to note. What happens in the USA is knocking on the door, she says to the newspaper.
