Just like so many times before, Edmonton's star duo Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were behind the winning goal. The Canadian made a quick solo raid through the middle zone and played forward to the German, who scored the 5-4 goal 15:20 into the fourth period.

Earlier in the match, Victor Olofsson had scored his two first playoff goals, to 1-0 and 3-4, respectively, and both in power play, in front of the home crowd. William Karlsson scored the 2-3 goal for Vegas, his second in the playoffs.

Edmonton now has a strong advantage in the quarterfinals with 2-0 in matches in best of seven after double away wins. The match series is now moving from the USA to Canada.

Washington, on the other hand, has equalized the quarterfinal series against Carolina after a home win with 3-1 to Friday.

Goalkeeper Logan Thompson let in one of 28 shots.

He's our wall back there, said Tom Wilson about Thompson after the match.

Wilson was the one who nailed the final result in an open goal with a minute left of the match in a situation where the guests were chasing an equalizer.

The two teams have won one match each in the series, which now moves to Raleigh, North Carolina.

Winnipeg–Dallas: 1–0

Vegas–Edmonton: 0–2

Florida–Toronto: 0–2

Washington–Carolina: 1–1

All match series are played in best of seven.
