It is in the northern parts of Götaland and adjacent areas in southern Svealand, primarily up towards the Örebro region, that the wind can cause more trouble, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

There may be very strong gusts of wind between 21 and 23 meters per second. Locally, there may be storm gusts along the west coast.

The yellow warning is in effect until 9 am on Friday morning, but it is expected to remain windy well into Friday.

For Gotland and large parts of southern Baltic Sea, the warning applies until Saturday morning, which has led to Destination Gotland cancelling two ferry departures to the mainland on Friday and Saturday, reports Helagotland.

According to SMHI, there is a risk that roads will be blocked by fallen trees and that public transport will be affected by delays or cancelled departures.

It's also a good idea to think about how things look at home in the garden.

It's about anchoring and securing loose objects, such as a trampoline or garden furniture, says Sofia Söderberg.
