Inflation is spreading in the Nordic neighboring countries, according to fresh figures.

Inflation in Denmark – that is, consumer price increases in annual terms – rose to 1.4 percent in August, according to the country's statistics agency. This can be compared to an inflation rate of 1.1 percent in July.

Compared to July, Danish consumer prices fell by 0.4 percent in August.

Norway's statistics agency is also presenting new inflation figures. There, inflation fell to 2.6 percent in August, compared to 2.8 percent. The decline was unexpected. The average forecast among analysts was for an unchanged inflation rate in Norway in August.

Compared to July, consumer prices in Norway fell by 0.9 percent after a price increase of 0.5 percent on a monthly basis in July.

Swedish inflation figures for August – crucial decision-making basis when the Swedish Central Bank decides on the interest rate in about two weeks – will be presented by the Statistics Sweden (SCB) on Thursday.
