Vlasic sent Västerås SK closer to the Superettan

Did the train leave Grimsta? Västerås SK's Allsvenskan future prospects are becoming increasingly bleak. At the same time, much suggests that Brommapojkarna can breathe a sigh of relief. Goal-scoring king Nikola Vasic stepped forward when it was most needed in BP's 2-1 win.

15 goals scored so far this season – as many as Malmö FF's Isaac Kiese Thelin – says a lot about Vlasic's qualities as a finisher.

The leading goal was just one of many examples that told how important he is for BP, whose fight for continued Allsvenskan status is not entirely over, but very much more favorable.

BP has 30 points, a figure that usually suffices, and also has a bunch of clubs between itself and the bottom two lines of the table. Västerås, on the other hand, has five points up to Halmstad and the qualifying spot.

"A cheap goal"

Alexander Abrahamsson hit a deep pass from far down on his own half. Vlasic turned away the center-back and Västerås captain Frederic Nsabiyumva.

Vlasic got a free run from half the pitch. Controlled, he lifted the leading goal behind Anton Fagerström.

A cheap goal, says Simon Johansson in VSK. We're not quite good enough and that's been the case all season.

When Alexander Jensen – whose importance for BP cannot be underestimated – scored 2–0, the curtain fell over Kalle Karlsson and his Västerås. It didn't help that Viktor Granath headed in the reduction.

It got a bit nervous. The match was very even and they played well. It's fun to meet teams that just go for it, says Jensen to Max.

The Dane dare not relax in the belief that BP will play in the Allsvenskan in 2025.

Last year, we qualified on 33 points. So one more win and one draw... no, I don't know. We'll win as many matches as we can, he says.

Tough finish

The finish looks at least tough for Västerås. The bottom team has left to meet Mjällby, Malmö FF, Djurgården, Elfsborg, and Hammarby, all clubs from the top half of the table.

We know we have a tough schedule left, but we'll do everything we can to fulfill the contract, says Simon Johansson.
