The World Cup downhill race in Beaver Creek was overshadowed by Rok Aznoh's nasty crash. The Slovenian skied into the safety net at high speed, lost his helmet and appeared to lose consciousness, according to media on site.

It looked really nasty. They've stopped showing replays now, so I didn't see exactly what happened. But he seems to have hit his head and lost consciousness, says Felix Monsén, who finished in 37th place, to Aftonbladet.

Aznoh had starting number 58 and after the crash the race was interrupted for around 20 minutes. He was eventually taken down the hill on a sled.

There is no information yet on how seriously the 23-year-old is injured.

Swiss Marco Odermatt won. Another star skier, Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, made his first VC downhill race in almost two years after his serious crash in Wengen. He finished in eleventh place.
