With barely three months until Sweden's World Cup playoff against Ukraine in Valencia on March 26, the Blue and Yellows have suffered another injury blow.
Viktor Johansson injured his shoulder against Sheffield United on Monday and therefore did not play in the Championship match against Hull on New Year's Day. In an interview with the Stoke Sentinel, which Aftonbladet has seen, Stoke coach Mark Robins said surgery is likely for the 27-year-old goalkeeper.
So he'll probably be out for a while, Robins said.
He's a great guy and a top goalkeeper. We just have to try to handle it as best we can and support him to come back as soon as possible. There's quite a difference between the earliest and the latest he can be back, so we're obviously praying for the former.
The national team's injury list already includes, notably, the attacking duo Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak.
