Team Edin was not happy after Canada's Ben Hebert played his last stone in the second round. The Swedes thought he touched the granite of the stone, which is not allowed.
The Swedish players asked the official about it before the Canadians intervened and said that Oskar Eriksson had done the same earlier in the match.
"It's sad that it happens like that. But we've tried to stop people from bumping into the stone, from bumping into any part other than the handle," Oskar Eriksson tells SVT.
The sour mood continued throughout the match. Before the final round, Oskar Eriksson confronted Canada's Marc Kennedy and pointed out that several members of the Canadian team were on the rocks after the release. Something Kennedy did not appreciate. "Fuck off," he said repeatedly.
"It was the same thing at the World Cup, the same thing a few years earlier," Niklas Edin tells SVT when asked if this is a recurring problem.
It is unclear whether the legal wrangling will lead to any penalties afterwards.
The loss for Team Edin means that the Olympics have started with three losses - against Italy, Great Britain and Canada. In order for the medal hopes to be alive for the reigning Olympic champions, victories in the upcoming group games are required. The next meeting for Team Edin is on Saturday at 14:05 against China.
