A leader of the terrorist-designated Hurras al-Din was killed in a US airstrike in northwestern Syria on Saturday, according to the US military command for the Middle East, Centcom, in a post on X, and adds:
"We will continue our relentless pursuit of terrorists in order to defend our homeland, USA's allies and personnel belonging to our partner forces in the region".
Hurras al-Din announced in January that it had ceased operations on orders from Syria's newly appointed president, Islamist leader Ahmed al-Sharaa. At the same time, the movement admitted for the first time that it had ties with the terrorist organization al-Qaida.
Saturday's airstrike follows an attack on another Hurras al-Din leader, Muhammad Salah al-Zabir, who was killed by the US on January 30, just days after the movement announced its dissolution.
