This is unless Canada "immediately corrects" an upcoming ban on the sale of products from the American aircraft manufacturer Gulfstream, Trump writes.
The president further accuses the country of "wrongfully" and "illegally" refusing to certify several jet aircraft from the company.
The move is the latest in the increasingly strained relationship between the two countries and their leaders, Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
As recently as last week, Trump threatened to impose 100 percent tariffs on Canada if it struck a trade deal with China. He did not provide details on when those punitive tariffs would be imposed. Canada has already announced a deal to lower tariffs in exchange for increased trade with China.
