The price increase is intended to make it more worthwhile for Americans to stay in the country's national parks.
The message comes as Donald Trump initiates the US's year-long 250th anniversary celebration. He is also instructing the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to "encourage international tourism to the US national parks".
Hundreds of employees at the National Park Service, the authority responsible for the national parks, were laid off earlier this year through the White House initiative Doge. The measure has led to concern ahead of the tourist season this summer.
In the presidential order, Trump also revokes a directive from 2017 by then-President Barack Obama to promote diversity and inclusion in the national parks.
