Scheffler's Giant Leap – Åberg Far Behind

Ludvig Åberg got a tough start in the PGA tour's final tournament. Better went it for Scottie Scheffler, who has pulled away to a seven-stroke lead in the hunt for the big win.

The American world number one got to start the final on East Lake outside Atlanta with a two-stroke lead, thanks to the top spot in the season total.

It has now grown significantly after Scheffler's opening 65 shots, six under par. Scheffler has a seven-stroke lead over his fellow countrymen Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele.

But I'm trying not to think about having a lead. I still think this format is a bit weird. But yeah, it was nice to get a good start and it felt like I did a lot of good things out there, says Scheffler according to Aftonbladet.

Ludvig Åberg started the competition as fifth, five strokes behind Scheffler. After the Swedish golf star opened with a par round of 71 shots – one of the worst scores of the day – he is now in 14th place and eleven strokes behind the leader.

The top 30 on the Fedex Cup ranking get to play the final, whose format has been debated before the competition. Scheffler got to start the competition on ten under par and the players were then ranked in descending order, with the lowest ranked starting on par.

The winner takes home a check of approximately 255 million kronor (25 million dollars).
