Inflation in Norway unexpectedly rose to 3.6 percent in January, preliminary figures show.

In December, Norwegian inflation was 3.2 percent, and analysts on average had expected it to fall to 3.0 percent in January, according to Bloomberg.

In Denmark, inflation fell to 0.8 percent, from 1.9 percent in December – or to 0.6 percent from 1.9 percent using EU-harmonized figures.

Sweden's inflation rate, measured by the Swedish Central Bank's preferred measure of CPIF - which excludes the effects of mortgage interest rates - fell to 2.0 percent in January, according to preliminary estimates presented by Statistics Sweden (SCB) last week. Core inflation, which also excludes energy prices, fell unexpectedly to 1.7 percent.

Finnish inflation figures for January are not expected until the end of next week.
