Anders Sörensen became the head coach in Chicago in early December after Luke Richardson was fired and thus became the first Swedish head coach in the NHL.
The assignment is temporary, but can become permanent if it goes well. The result so far is three wins and three losses. Against Washington, the second straight home win came, but Chicago was long behind with a 0-2 deficit before the third period.
"Kept patience"
We kept patience. We were behind 0-2, even though we thought we played okay, says Sörensen at a press conference after the match.
The turnaround would come in the final act. In goal, Swede Arvid Söderblom excelled by saving eleven shots (20 total) and forward Ryan Donato secured the three points with his 3-2 goal with 2.18 minutes left to play.
It's a wonderful feeling to win again, even better to do it two in a row at home, says Söderblom, who has three wins in his last four matches in the Chicago goal.
In Ottawa, Swedish goalkeeper Linus Ullmark was a wall when the Canadian team shut out Seattle on the road. Ullmark stopped all 30 shots, resulting in a 3-0 win.
Third shutout
This is the third time this season that Linus Ullmark hasn't allowed a goal. Something that means he has already broken his previous record of at most two shutouts in one and the same NHL season after just 21 matches.
The win against Seattle was Ottawa's fourth straight and their sixth in the last seven matches.
