Savannah Guthrie, anchor of NBC's "Today" program, also addressed the potential kidnappers directly:
"We need to be absolutely sure that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen," she said.
She also added that the mother lives with "constant pain" and needs her medication to survive.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her home in Arizona on Sunday. Police sources said investigators suspect she did not leave the home voluntarily and that police have found evidence suggesting she may have been abducted.
Several media outlets have received ransom demands from people who have claimed to be involved, but the police have not commented on the credibility of the information.
US President Donald Trump has also spoken out about the case. In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that he spoke with Savannah Guthrie and ordered "all federal law enforcement agencies" to make themselves available.
"We are deploying all resources to bring her mother home safely. The entire nation is praying for her and her family. God bless and protect Nancy," the president wrote.
