The Turkish Football Association demands that Israel be suspended from international play and calls the situation in Gaza "inhuman and unacceptable".

Turkey's move comes after reports on Thursday that Uefa, the European football association, is considering banning Israel from all competitions, due to the war in Gaza. Reports that the news agency AP and the newspaper The Times revealed.

The Turkish Football Association is the first Uefa country to openly demand it.

In an open letter to football leaders in Uefa and Fifa, which the Turkish news agency Anadolu published, the Turkish football chairman Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu writes that ”it's time for Fifa and Uefa to act”.

The International Football Association's chairman Gianni Infantino is closely linked to the US President Donald Trump and the Trump administration went out on Thursday and said they do not support Israel being excluded.

Next year's World Championship is hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico and the World Championship qualifying is in full swing.
