Films that explore what is truth - and what happens when the boundaries between true and false are blurred - are at the center of the Gothenburg Film Festival, which opens on January 23.
Several films inspired by recent world political events will have their Swedish premieres. Among them is "Hind Rajab - the voice from Gaza", director Kaouther Ben Hania's acclaimed drama about six-year-old Hind, whose fate during the Gaza War was rewritten around the world.
There will also be a Swedish premiere for "The Wizard of the Kremlin" by Olivier Assayas, with Jude Law as Vladimir Putin and Alicia Vikander in a supporting role.
It was already announced that Noomi Rapace will be this year's Nordic Honorary Laureate. The Swede is coming to Gothenburg to present "Mother", in which she plays Mother Teresa. Polish director Agnieszka Holland is this year's International Honorary Laureate.
It will also be the world premiere of "The Swedish Link", an unusual dramatic role for comedian Henrik Dorsin in a Netflix film about foreign ministry officials who use bureaucracy to fight Nazism during World War II.
The Gothenburg Film Festival runs from January 23 to February 1.
