Heat about annexations. Verbal spats with world leaders. A new world order. President Donald Trump's policy creates shockwaves around the world – but seems to resonate strongly with the majority of the countrymen. The proportion of Americans who think the country is developing in the right direction has, according to NBC, not been this high since 2004.

Two months into the term, over 43 percent think the USA is developing in the right direction. This is compared to 28 percent on January 20, when Trump swore the oath of office and moved into the White House, shows Real Clear Politics compilation of current measurements.

The "America First" priorities, including the cuts in the state apparatus and the promised deportations of undocumented migrants, are among the president's more popular policies, according to American media.

Worse on economy?

Overall, 48 percent think Trump is doing a good job as president. The support is more stable than when the Republican began his first term in 2017 – and significantly higher than the average of 41.1 percent during Trump's four first years in the White House, notes the opinion institute Gallup.

Compared to his predecessors, Trump is lagging behind, according to a compilation of mainly Gallup data made by researchers at the University of California, Santa Barbara. 100 days into the presidency, Democrats Joe Biden and Barack Obama had support of 57 and 65 percent, respectively. Republican George W. Bush's support was at 62 percent.

The controversial Trump's policy sparks strong emotions and his countrymen are deeply divided in their opinions about him. For just over a week ago, a trend break occurred, when the proportion who think Trump is doing a bad job became larger than those who are satisfied. Today, 49 percent give him a failing grade.

Trump, who campaigned on promises of lower inflation and a better economy, gets somewhat worse grades in the wallet area: 44 percent think he is doing a good job with the economy and 51 percent are of the opposite opinion. When it comes to inflation measures, 54 percent give a thumbs down.

Musk unpopular

When opinion institutes ask about the view of the country's political leaders, the president has an advantage: 46.5 percent have a positive view of Trump. The figures for both his vice president JD Vance and the Speaker of the House and group leader are significantly lower than that.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who leads the downsizing initiative Doge, seems to fare worse than his boss. 53 percent have a negative view of him, while 35 percent are of the opposite opinion, according to a measurement made by CNN and the opinion institute SSRA.

Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20. The 78-year-old Republican was also president between 2017 and 2021, but failed to be re-elected in 2020.

Unlike other presidents, Trump did not have previous experience as an elected politician or military officer when he moved into the White House. He was a businessman.

Born in Queens, New York, Donald Trump has a degree in economics with a focus on real estate from the University of Pennsylvania. He inherited properties from his father and built an empire with a focus on, among other things, hotels and golf courses.

Donald Trump is the father of five children: Donald junior, Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron.

In 2005, he married for the third time after divorces from Ivana Trump and Marla Maples. His current wife is Slovenian-American Melania Trump.
