"I'm sending Israel everything they need to finish the job, not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don't do what I say", Trump writes on his platform Truth Social.

The American president is also threatening the entire population of the Gaza Strip.

"And to the people of Gaza: A beautiful future awaits, but not if you hold hostages. If you do, you're DEAD!", Trump writes, adding that the hostages must be released now – otherwise, it will cost the people of Gaza dearly.

USA and Hamas in talks

The outburst comes after Adam Boehler, the US envoy for hostage issues, had direct "talks and discussions" with representatives of the terrorist-stamped Hamas. The release of Hamas' American hostages has been discussed, confirmed White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday.

American lives are at stake, she said then.

Hamas' spokesperson in Gaza, Hazem Qassem, says that US President Donald Trump's repeated threats "risk the ceasefire" and that the hostages will only be released through negotiations.

"If he wants to release the hostages, he (Trump) must pressure Netanyahu to initiate negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire", says Qassem, writes Haaretz.

It is the first known direct contacts between the USA and Hamas since the US Department of State terrorist-stamped the armed extremist group in 1997.

Israel has confirmed that the USA has informed them about the talks. In a statement from Benjamin Netanyahu's office, it is stated that Israel then "expressed its opinion on direct talks with Hamas".

Proposal for extension

Trump's latest outburst and the news of the talks come as the continued ceasefire between Israel and Hamas faces an uncertain future.

The first phase of the ceasefire expired on Saturday. Israel's government has proposed an extension of phase one, while Hamas wants negotiations to reach an agreement on phase two.

A second phase would mean a more permanent and in-depth ceasefire, compared to the more preliminary measures of the first phase.
